My July Faves

Welcome to a new post on Sprinkle of Southern! Through the month of July, I wasn’t really too productive when it came to things I actually did, but I did find some goodies that I always seemed to be reaching for this month, so I hope you enjoy!

Clean & Clear Morning and Night Duo

clean and clear jfbp.jpg

My face broke out a little bit on my chin and especially my forehead, but when I started to use my Morning Burst Facial Cleanser and the Night Relaxing Face Wash, my trouble spots were no where to be seen in the matter of a couple of days! Trust me, these bad boys work wonders, plus they smell amazing.

Lilly Pulitzer Mini Callahan Shorts

These shorts are A) super comfy and B) super cute!! I am in love with the print and the colors! I’ve paired these shorts with a plain white top from J.Crew and a pair of sandals from J.Crew Factory. Also, they are the same material as J.Crew Chinos, so if you enjoy those shorts then you will have no hesitation loving these Lilly ones.

Burts Bees Vanilla Bean Lip Balm

This lip balm has to be a 10 out of 10, but what Burts Bees product doesn’t impress, am I right?! It is so smooth and being a girl with constant chapped lips, this lip balm has definitely helped with that!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

This mascara is unbelievable! Do you want volume? This mascara has it. Do you want length? This mascara has it. Do you want color? This mascara has it; this mascara has it all!!  This mascara is so easy to apply and even fix with a plain mascara brush! My lashes are long even with no product in them, but this gives the right amount of everything to make a girl happy about her lashes! My routine has been applying this mascara (in a black color) to my upper lashes and my Clinique mascara (a brown/black color) to my lower lashes and they make great results!!

Welcome friends to another post on Sprinkle of Southern! Today, I’m going to share with y’all how I style my favorite summer shoes; my Chacos! I have three summer outfits that help style your Chacos and I hope you get some outfit inspiration from my three styles. All of the links for each outfit will be linked underneath the pictures featured. Let’s get on with the outfits!

OUTFIT 1

For the first outfit, I chose this sheer, blue pullover with my fav pair of shorts! I love this outfit because it’s super comfy and easy to throw on.

DIY Leather & Pearl Choker Necklace

Hello and welcome to Sprinkle of Southern! About 3 days ago (I would say), I posted a picture with me in my DIY Leather and Pearl necklace, and I got two requests to show y’all how I made it. I spent less than $10 on this entire project, and I know that these can range from $12-$20, so this definitely is a deal! I hope you enjoy!

——

——

SUPPLIES:

1.jpg

All you need is…

  1. Pearl Beads (there are different sizes, but I used one of the biggest sizes I found)
  2. Black Leather Cording (I used a medium thickness)
  3. Scissors
  4. Pliers (Optional)

——

INSTRUCTIONS:

The first thing you need to do is measure the length of how long you want the necklace plus add two inches, because you will be knotting and shortening the cording.

2

 ——

Then, slide on the amount of beads that you want in the center (I chose one bead) plus add one more pearl for the end.

3

4.jpg

——

Tie a knot at the end to prevent the bead from falling off. I used my pliers to tighten the knot.

5

6.jpg

——

Next, slide the pearl up against the first knot and tie the other side of the pearl. For right now, leave the other pearl(s) we added on first alone.

7

——

Now, we’re going to start with how to secure the necklace. You can definitely go with clasps to secure it, but I chose to do a tying method that I will show y’all how to do.

First, create a little loop with the other end of your cord.

8

——

Then, I wrapped the cording around my finger to start the knot.

9

——

Loop the cording around your finger just like you would knot a knot.

10

——

Then pull the end through the knot and pull down.

11

——

Pull the knot up until the knot is fully secured on the cording. You can also pull the end of the cord with the pliers.

12

13

——

To finish off the tutorial, I’m going to show y’all how to secure the pearl(s) in the front of the necklace.

Place the pearl in the center of your cording.

14

——

Then, tie a knot on both sides of the knot.

15

16

——

18

——

Then you’re done! I hope you enjoyed how to make this necklace!

DIY Summer Strawberry + Mango Smoothie

Hello y’all! I got a request on my Instagram to do some easy summer snacks, so that’s what I’m doing today! I decided to show y’all how to make a super duper easy, but delicious strawberry and mango smoothie; let’s begin!

——

Ingredients:

ingrediants bp

  1. Organic Frozen Strawberries
  2. Frozen Mangos
  3. Vanilla
  4. Milk (of any kind)
  5. A Blender
  6. Ice

——

To start, grab your milk and pour the amount of milk that you please. Since my blender is small, I filled it about a little more than half of the blender.

——

Next, I splashed in dash of vanilla extract to add some more flavor.

——

Then, start adding your fruit. I used about a handful and a half of both the strawberries and the mangos.

My 6 Desk Essentials

Hello lovelies and welcome back! To begin, you need the back story… My desk is always the cleanest area in my room, so I’ve found my essentials on my desk that keep it organized and fun! So, I am going to share my essentials that I hope will give you some inspiration for your desk! Let’s get on with the post:

——

Flowers or Succulents

I have both a plant and a succulent on my desk! They can add much needed color as well as a more earthy and alive feel to a simple part of your office or bedroom. Plus, there are so many flowers and succulents to chose from that will give you the right amount of “something” to your room.

——

Calenders or Agendas

I used my Lilly agenda in school like crazy, but I never used it in the summer time, so I decided to give the organized summer life a try! I try to write in my plans for the month as much as I can because it helps me remember what I have going on each day.

agenda bp

——

Candles or a Difuser

I have a difuser on my desk to keep me relaxed whether I was studying during the school year or just blogging in the summer time! Candles work great as well, I just can’t burn any because my parents think I will burn the house down (lol).

difuser bp

——

Notepad or Sticky Notes

If you’re like me, you write down things like crazy, so a notepad is a must! Plus, you can get any set of notepads and sticky notes for pretty cheap.

note pad bp

——

Pens

Like I said, I write things down a lot, so how could you write things down without your favorite pen? exactly. I love to have tons of pens or pencils to write down notes.

——

Storage Bins / Jars

To organize the pens, supplies, markers, and all of the little things on my desk, I use storage jars, which always do the trick! I also did a DIY on the colorful wooden pencil holder, so scroll down to find the link to check it out.

How I Edit My Instagram Pictures

Hello ladies and welcome to another post here on Sprinkle of Southern! I wanted to share how I edit my Instagram pictures with y’all today, so read on to learn about my routine & the apps I use.

This is the before and after pic.

Processed with MOLDIV

To start, I will pull up Color Story; the app I use to edit my pictures, which I believe is free in the app store.

open up app.png

I will then pick the picture I would like to edit.

before pic fr

——

To begin the editing process, I will add the filter Ice Ice as a base to my picture before editing. This filter is in the Essentials folder.

added Ice Ice.png

——

Then, going into the Tools folder, I will start by adding a smidge of contrast.

Add contrast.png

——

Next I add brightness. I didn’t add too much for this picture, but it depends on what pic I’m editing.

Add brightness.png

——

Finally, my absolute favorite part… saturation! I went almost to the maximum saturation for this pic. I honestly think, for me, the saturation really adds to the pic!

Add saturation.png

——

To add some more color, I will add some temperature, but on the more yellow side.

Then, I’m done! I hope you enjoyed how I edit my Instagram pictures!

My Hair Routine + How To Get Healthier Hair!

Welcome to another post on Sprinkle of Southern! I am back to share my hair routine, the products I use to keep my hair clean, and tips to get healthier and shinier hair! Let’s begin!

——

When showering, I have recently started using this Shampoo / Conditioner duo, and let me tell you, it has works wonders! My hair is a lot more under control and the puffiness has definitely gone down.

shampoo and conditioner blog.jpg

——

My shampoo is the Herbal Essences 0% Silicone Shampoo with Rose Hips, Vitamin E, and Jojoba Extracts.

My conditioner is the Herbal Essences 0% Paraben Conditioner with Rosemary and Mint Essences.

——

My Shampoo and Conditioner

The Shampoo and Conditioner are both from Herbal Essences. What I love about these products is they are free of silicone, which has a love-hate relationship with your hair; yes, it gives the shine any girl wants in their hair, but it strips down the nutrients in your hair, making it weak and lifeless. The article I found these facts in, will be linked down below if you want to read more.

——

After my shower, I use my favorite hair brush; The Wet Brush in a super cute pink color! This hair brush gets rid of my tangles in a flash and keeps my thick hair tamed.

How To Get Shinier and Healthier Hair (Without Silicone)

There is simply one thing I’ve done to keep my hair shiny and healthy and that is showering in cold water. But, I only switch the water from hot to cold at the last minute of my shower, but I honestly love the feeling of the cold water after a steamy shower. The cold water will a) Minimize your pores, preventing them from getting clogged and dirt from getting in, b) It makes the hair appear shinier and healthier by decreasing hair follicles (the tissue that surrounds the roots in your hair). This simple step will make your hair seem shinier and healthier but without adding any product!

liebsteraward-roses-tag.png

Hello everyone! I have a very exciting post for y’all today…Thank you so much Anne from Merging Threads for nominating me for the Liebster Blogger Award!

For more information on this nomination and award you can click here.

——

Here are the questions I was asked to answer:

What is the best deal you have ever gotten (fashion related)?

I’m not sure, actually.

What has been the most thrilling thing you have ever done?

For my birthday party, a bunch of my friends and I went Indoor Skydiving; it was probably the most adventurous thing I’ve ever done, hands down.

Which Disney princess most resembles you? Why?

Ariel; I love to find new things and go on adventures.

Do you have a hidden talent?

Unfortunately no.

What’s your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

Hands down, Thin Mints!

What is your biggest fashion “no-no”?

I know flare jeans are coming back in style, but I’ve never loved the look of boot cut jeans. It’s not a big no-no, but it’s just something I’m not a big fan of.

If you could go on vacation with with one person who would you be and where would you go?

I would go to the Jamaican beaches with Selena Gomez because she looks so fun to hang out with and I’ve always wanted to travel to the Jamaican beaches.

What is your favorite piece of clothing to date?

Probably my Chacos, because they always add pops of color to any outfit and they are one of my go-to shoes for the summer time.

What is at the top of your bucket list?

I did not have to think about this at all; Skydiving for sure!

——

I nominate:

Kendre from SouthernKyPrep

Mary from MaryCHarrell

Annabel from Annabel’s Adventures

——

Here are the questions I want to know:

What is your favorite candy?

What is your favorite app to edit pictures?

Did you dress up last Halloween? If so, what were you?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What is your favorite T.V. show to binge watch on Netflix?

Who would you die to see in concert and who would you take?

Can you pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time?

Are you a better dancer or singer?

What is your biggest fear?

——

Thank you again, Anne, for nominating me for the Liebster Blogger Award! Good luck to those I nominated! Have a great day!
